Parce que je t'aime❤️

19/12/2015

I've done with all the finals, and my real exams have been started.
It is 'getting used to the real life' project.
Well, officially, this is the first vacation that I am not going abroad.
So! I am planning to spend this period either on working or studying, OR both at the same time.

Firstly, extensive reading in French. I borrowed a French book written by Guillaume Musso. It's one of the works sold throughout the world, called 'Parce que je t'aime' (사랑하기 때문에, Because I love you). I actually wanted to start with 'Le papillon des étoiles' which is my favorite book ever, but, well.. The expressions were so abstract and twisted that It took me so much time to finish one page)

But this one is much easier to finish every sentence, and full of nutrient vocabularies.
The best way to improve language ability is to read as many books as possible. I believe blindly this word. It would be even better if you read it out loud, because learning new language is like installing another big habit. You don't need to worry about anything. Just get used to the language structures by repeating them again and again. Then, at some points, you will be speaking it without squeezing your brain that hard. Well, acquiring more words and phrasal verbs are another story. LOL

OK. I rested enough. I need to get back to study again.
See y'all!

A group project meme

10/12/2015

I have no idea why group assignment exist. This shows why communism has been destroyed. There is always someone who is eager to get better scores in a group, and this one always becomes the victim.

These are four types of weirdos in a group project.
1. 'I've tried, but I don't know' type : this one nominally summits his part, titularly attends the meeting, but contributes less than 5% to the output. This one normally says nothing in the meeting. Thanks
2. 'Sorry I was busy' (or 'no show')type  : the problem is that he is not capable to think other people are also as busy as him. Well, I understand that you had to go there. I just wanted your 'PORTION'. Professor gave us 3 weeks and you should have finished that before you go there! I am not your mommy...mate...
3. 'I don't agree with you' type : I appraise your opinion, but I would like you to give us either a solution or other different idea to back that up. Please refrain from keeping disagreeing with others opinions even if it sounds ridiculous.
4. Just weirdo... : the law of conservation of weirdo exist in group assignments. I thought this was myth until I met him. He insulted me for putting him down in front of the others. It was jaw-dropping experience for everyone. It turned out that he misunderstood my writing alone (yeah.. Just alone..), then apologized me. Cool.

The important thing is if you cannot find the weirdo in your group, you ARE the weirdo.
Hahahahahaha.. Well.. I think I used to be..

Anyway! It's all finished!! Let's go for the finals!!

Ghana Chocolates<3

05/12/2015

Final exams are just around the corner. Time flies. I feel so awkward when new year approaches at this time. December , which includes my birthday (6th), seems to have color on its name. Every place is full of red waiting for the long waited Christmas. Most classes were wrapped up and we are ready to say good bye to class mates.

You know when you are chased by the time and packed schedule, it seems to us that everyone around us lives in a same way. Even if she has a little bit different character or eccentric personality from us in Korea, we don't exaggerate her life story, but consider she is just the same one like us.

However, an ordinary day, in the same class with familiar friends, I found out a compelling story from one of our class mates who exactly looked an everyday sort of man like the others. She spent her adolescence in Ghana. Yes, in Africa! In Korea, so to speak, people have great amount of interest in Korea-born people who lived in foreign country for a long time, including even neighboring countries such as China and Japan. But 5 years in Africa surrounded by totally different background people? I was shocked. She calmly explained how that was what she saw and how much she wanted to come back. She had go to there because of her parents who have good cause for helping people in the name of NGO. In company with new experience, she blamed on her parents that she could not spend her youth life in more advanced place. She felt that she was 5 years behind the normal Korean students. So she decided to come back letting her parents continue working there. The fact that their 'actual' house is in Ghana is still surprising.

Nevertheless, she says those experiences are worthy. I agreed with her. Unlike other Korean people, she unconstrainedly makes foreign friends. I mean, If I hang out with them I can see that some people glance at us wondering how they became friends. (Maybe I am a sensitive one), but she doesn't mind this at all, as she recognizes that there is no difference at all between herself and them. I'm sure the more open when seeing people, the better person one can become. I expect you will be an excellent Korean teacher with that in mind. Cheers for 2016 and for both of us! I hope to meet you again! ;)

Let's vote for ourselves!

02/12/2015

From today, the voting began at Busan University of Foreign Studies.
I can exercise the right to vote for 'Europe and North America Department' and 'English Department' which belongs to ENAD as one of its major. For tomorrow, long-waited vote for the student body will be conducted.

(Candidate number 2, candidate number 1, Candidate number 3)

Not many people know that they have gotten this election be possible because of  candidate number 3. This brave female candidate felt that the current president of the student council is active for his own interest. So she demanded the detailed statement of student union fee during almost this entire semester, but no response came out from him yet. He even planned to cancel this biggest election so that he could work until next year as a president. So the supporters of candidate 3 gathered the students to gymnasium where the council is held if more than one tenth of students (about 730) assemble to make this election be held.

It felt like I was in a movie. The council was scheduled to open at 6:00pm. It was so crowd inside of it. Everyone in there must have thought this assembly would unfold smoothly. Well, if not, at least, he should have feared of strong interest of BUFS students toward the student body. We were so relaxed meeting long time no see friends until we got a bolt from the blue.

"I really did my best. We were supposed to have at least 730 students in this gym, but we only got to have 689. I am afraid that this can not be held"

Every student was greatly surprised. You didn't promote this council at all. You exactly placed these plastic chairs for 730 expecting these would't be filled. You didnt even include dozens of executives of the student body who were in there and you are saying 'you did your best'??

At 6:45 pm. The place became stormy. I could recognize all the agitator, mere normal students expressing their opinions and the others summoning their friends. The final count started in totally clear silence where nobody would believe that there were hundreds of people in there if they closed their eyes. The number was announced.

718 including all the executives and the president himself. Shit. I thought the democracy was dead. You dumb BUFS students, you shall never demand nor ask for what you want from now on. You just calmly attend the school and get a degree then vas t'en!

All of a sudden, one guy shouted pointing at the auditorium (totally in a dead zone for us) "Look there!! Aren't they BUFS students???" All the heads turned to them. Yes, they were. They gave me literally goose bumps. We made this! The president was under extreme tension. He immediately started the council emphasizing we don't have enough time to get to know the candidates properly.

Don't worry about that mate..

Well, need less to say, the most students in there voted yes to have the election this year. This is how we got to have the right to vote today. Not many people know this especially for the fresh men. I saw how the democracy is made, how the real politicians ascend the stairs step by step and how wide awake people change the world in just this little university.

Therefore, I outrightly support the candidate number 3 for making the students be awake. Regardless of the result, I wish I could give her a dinner to listen to her life story. LOL Girl crush!

Ya~~~sik~~~~

01/12/2015

I have been eating too much. Even last night (23:00) I had to run to buy some 'Yasik(foods people eat at night' to the convenience store located literally few steps from my dorm. We, the women, are colonized by the estrogens coming out every single month, so it is impossible to fight with the surge of appetite, manic-depressive and swollen body at this time. When my roommate got home with a bunch of foods late at night criticizing herself for eating too much lately. So I ask her to look at the calendar.

You were right! Dame it! It's coming! I wouldn't even have cried if this wasn't coming when my BF didn't call me yesterday!

For this reason, I cordially request guys to follow these instructions when seeing this phenomenon.
1. Buy her meals
2. Provide her foods
3. Get her some sweets (I dont fancy them, but as most do)
4. Tell her (with serious eyes) 'You have no idea how lovely you are when eating!'
5. Don't actually need to worry about what she says, but show your concern a lot (This shall pass too)

Oh.. And don't believe what she says when she wants to eat something. Once you rush outside to buy it, she will have changed her mind from chicken to sushi in just few minutes..... I DON'T KNOW WHY!!!

Not much left

28/11/2015

Today is the first day of my part time job. It had been ages since I worked in Korea. About 5 years ago, I was working as a waitress at a small pub not far from the home. So my dad used to come over to oversee me by ordering any alcohol. I think he felt quite awkward meeting me there, so I had to remind him not to call me ‘Boeun-a!’ which is literally my name.
After working few months at a pub, I could make hundreds of bucks for travel. I got
aboard the flight to Australia as soon as that semester finished. And my fantastic travel stories went on and on since then.
Back in Korea after those journeys. my mother always told me not to get a part-time job. Instead, she assured me to use that time for study. I followed her instruction. But to be frank, I justified myself with that since I used to get paid at least $14 per hour in Australia, I did not want to work in Korea any more where minimum wage is $5.

But from today, I start to work from 3pm to 11pm on weekend. I have no Idea what I would be doing. I only could look around the place when having an tiny interview.

Cheers! À tout à l'heure!

Ps. The reason why I got a job in Korea again is... to prepare another working holiday! Hooray!!

la reine des neiges

26/11/2015

It is getting colder obviously. I had to take out a thick jacket I bought on the other day looking forward to this day. I love winter. Winter is much better than Summer. You can wear more clothes when it’s cold, but you can’t take them off more when it’s hot. And Winter reminds me of a cozy heated chamber with a box of mandarin oranges and oh yeah a waist height sized christmas tree in the corner.

I also love snow. I heard that if you close your eyes in a calm forest you can hear the sound of it. How romantic!
In Busan(the southern part of south korea), it is rare to see them. They are perceived a lucky day during winter. So when I was young I used to put a snow man in the freezer to keep them forever. Unfortunately, he could not live off for a long time.

Therefore, I am planning to travel to northern area during this vacation. I am going to bring bean powder to taste the snow like this.
This is one of the well-known dessert in Korea. Once people tasted this, its chain stores spread out like the cockroaches. (I would be happy to hear the news regarding successful FDI in Japan for the upcoming years)
